Alien Abduction Lamp

I saw this on pinterest and thought it deserved a good word since it's awesome!

Homemade for about $5

Alien Abduction Lamp How-To
The best part about this lamp is that its made from items from the dollar store and it can be made pretty quickly.  It would be fun to see a variety of these made and put on display.

Alien Abduction Lamp $110
The lamp was originally inspired by which actually sells something similar.  The Abduction Lamp uses LEDs, has three light settings, cool packaging, and is professionally made.

This would also look awesome in a living room if you had a 50s scifi theme going on.

Today is The Day

Today I should be finding out if I have this teaching job in Arizona.  The school just has to get the official OK from the AZ Dept. of Education - since I'm from out of state - and then they can hire me.  So...I'm like 99% sure I'll nail this job!

It's only 10 am, so keep your fingers crossed.  They can call at any time.

On another note, lets get a jump on Halloween.  I'm not sure what to be for Halloween.  If I get this teaching job, I think I might have two costumes.  School costume would probably be a colonial-style witch, but if I go out....I want something a little sexier.  At this point, I'm kind of tossing around some of the classics: witch, scarecrow, mummy, devil.   I strictly believe that costumes should be scary or related to something scary (sexy witch isn't really scary is it?).   I have no idea what I'm doing for Halloween.  I might just be passing candy out to neighbor kids.

Still Waiting

I'm still waiting to hear back from that interview.  I left a message and talked to the guy's assistant.  I'm hoping to hear back sometime today or tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me my readers.  I need a career job, not a shitty minimum wage job.
I have put together a bunch of lesson ideas and projects.  I'm especially excited about a project based around Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  I am also excited about the idea of a class blog project.  It would be a great way for 3rd graders to be online, safely, and to use the skills they are learning, also the parents could see what their kid is up to.  I also had a great idea for an academic club: Natural History Club.  Each month the club could put together an exhibit based on a pre-chosen theme like Foods of North America or History of Printing or Native Tribes of Arizona or Natural Mathematics, etc.  It would be like going into a single exhibit at a museum, only put together by elementary kids.  Below is an image of some basic information that could be used for part of an exhibit.  Cool huh?
I've been looking at reading lists and all kinds of stuff.  I would like this job a lot.  It seems like fun, hard work but fun.
