RESULTS Rockabilly Challenge #1 - Drink Up

Here's my result for the first Rockabilly Challenge.  Please feel free to post yours!  Give it a name, tell us how to make it, and tell us why you named it what you did and why you chose the ingredients.  Be sure to post it here with a picture!  We want to see your creation!

Island Girl
2 oz Rum
6oz Pineapple Juice
1 tsp Lime Juice
3-4oz Orange Juice
Grenadine
4 Maraschino Cherries

1. In a shaker, put rum and juices. Shake and pour half into glass.
2. Add enough grenadine to color the bottom of the glass.
3. Drop in 4 cherries.
4. Pour the rest of the drink into the glass over a spoon.  This should keep the drink from becoming one solid color, achieving the gradient effect.

I have been on a retro Polynesian/Hawaiian kick lately which is why I chose to make this drink.  Can't go wrong with rum.  I chose pineapple and orange juice because its sunny and tropical.  I wanted to reflect a sunset, so I dropped in 4 cherries and some grenadine.  I named it "Island Girl" to reflect my mood.

Rockabilly Challenge #1 (March) - Drink Up

I know this is at the last minute for this month.  My challenge to you is to create a rockabilly drink.  Doesn't have to be alcoholic, that's completely up to you.

Give it a name, tell us how to make it, and tell us why you named it what you did and why you chose the ingredients.  Be sure to post it here with a picture!  We want to see your creation!

This should be fairly easy. :)  Right?

EDIT: I'm going to create an board on pinterest just for these challenges.  When I post my drink, I'll give you the details.

House

I put an offer down on a house.  The exterior is early post-modern with a Mansard roof.  The inside is midcentury modern with a bit of 50s primitive flair.  Outside is a deck, a dog run, and a big outdoor BBQ.   I offered $95,000.  I hope that's not crazy.  My mom, of course, thinks its about 20K too high.

I will know more by Monday.

I want to rip out the carpet, furrow the exterior inner walls by 2" for better insulation, paint, stain and varnish the floors, clean up the basement, take down some trees, and put in a low fence (a fence from landscaping bricks a foot and a half high with garden pots).  The exterior is brown, olive, and red.  I know, awful.  I'm going to paint the exterior of the house too.  My mom has a paint sprayer that I'll borrow.

Project Challenges?

Would anyone be up for some project challenges?  I think it could be a lot of fun.  If I get a few people thinking that it would be a cool idea, then I'll start doing a monthly project challenge.  This could be anything from food to sewing to building something to gardening....that sort of thing.
