Tiki Pop

I've been thinking pretty hard about interior design themes.  I am pretty sure I'm going to go with a Hawaiian/Polynesian/Tiki Pop theme.  I'll be getting a puppy soon, a black lab mix.  I'm thinking about naming him Lono.  Lono, if you know your Hawaiian culture, is the god of peace and is the rain bringer.  I'll have to see if the name really fits the dog though.  I'll be able to take him home in a few weeks.

I'm finishing a tiki culture documentary right now.  It's in two parts, but here's the first part.

I picked up these two small tiki mugs from Hawaii.  They're made by planet tiki.  I'm thinking about turning them into herb planters.

I'm also on the search for a green couch - not a lime green, but something relatively island-like.  Maybe a bright olive and walnut wicker or something.  My biggest issue is that I live in a place where there is almost NO modernism furniture.  Its all postmodern chaos here, like lazyboy recliners and junk.  I'm also a little limited on funds, otherwise I'd get something like one of these:

I Love Jello

I recently came across a blog called The Jello Mold Mistress and instantly fell in love with it.  I really enjoy gelatins and always encourage people to be more experimental with them.  For instance, do you know that in order to achieve a glow-in-the-dark effect with jello, use tonic water instead of regular water, then put the set jello near a blacklight?  Most people are unaware.  I snagged that out of "Jelly Mongers" by Bompas and Parr.

Here are some cool gelatin ideas from the Jello Mold Mistress.  I definitely want to give some of these a try and I'm strangely excited about trying various vegetable and savory gelatins.

Promotions, Bigfoot, & a Quest

This week has been pretty busy.  First off, I got promoted to the position of Assistant State Director of Alaska for MUFON (Mutual UFO Network).  That's pretty wild.

Secondly, I've been talking to the folks at 'Finding Bigfoot'.  I'm one of their main contacts for Alaska and they're coming up here in July.  HOORAY!  That's pretty exciting!  I've been tracking down some info for them.  Loads of fun.

I started crossfit training on Wednesday.  I have class again tonight.  It sure kicks my ass.  I love it!

Lastly, I am on a quest to find midcentury modern and googie commercial blueprints (blueprints/floor plans for business buildings).  If you happen to see anything online, let me know.  Thanks!

Rockabilly Town - Creating a themed town

I have another blog that I just started over the weekend.  Its on the subject of creating a themed town from the ground up.

http://rockabillytown.blogspot.com/

What I'd like to do is buy up some property, develop it, and get like-minded people to set up shop there.  Check out the link and you can read about it.

From Spare 'Oom

I moved into my parents' spare room over the weekend.  Its certainly a way to feel a little worthless.

To keep my mind at ease I've decided to start creating some rockabilly recipes.  I've been playing around with some stuff at work, so expect some strange new foods!  Also, I'm open for suggestions if you need help figuring out some kind of recipe for something.
