Kickass Weekend!

My guy was here over the weekend.  He came up here to see me, and to test for his second degree black belt - which he totally got!  So Proud!  I had to try hard to not cry when he was called up for his belt.

I promised him I would keep my mouth shut about us - in case there are prying eyes.  So, no pictures, no video.  Besides, everything I took is on his phone which is with him, down in AZ.

On another note, I have been planning a road trip or two in order to figure out where the fuck I want to live for the next few years.  My goal, when moving, is to open up a business and live in a house (rented for now).

RT 1: Start in Phoenix, AZ, check out some Arizona areas, head over to Albuquerque and check out NM, and head up to Denver, check out a little bit of CO.  I'm not super excited about CO mainly because everyone is telling me to go there - just like Portland.

RT 2: Start in PA, check out western NY and White Plains, mosey over to MA and NH, finish in Bangor, ME (not for moving, but to see if I can meet Stephen King).

Looking for any suggestions.  For example, this morning I was told by my godfather to not move to the east coast because its a different mindset.  The other day, my guy told me that he doesn't want me to have another incident like Portland, so definitely do the road trips and then make a decision...but if I move where he is, then he would love it.  If I find another place to settle for a while, then he understands because he wants me to be happy.

Now that you have an idea of my schedule, please leave a comment to let me know if you have any recommendations or comments on the general area.

Wine Wednesday

Its Wednesday night and I actually did something.  Backing up, I made a new friend at the Reverend Horton Heat concert in Healy, AK.  April is one of the very few rockabilly girls in Fairbanks and we met through our friend Terri.  You can catch April at her blog Knitting in Pearls.

April and I decided to go to the Wine Wednesday at El Dorado (Mexican restaurant) downtown where we met up with my friend Deanna.  We all looked gorgeous. And, side note, I parallel parked perfectly - 1 try only!  Not a common thing in Fairbanks - parallel parking.   Anyway, inside Clifton Coghill came over and sat with us, informed us that Wine Wednesday was not happening.  (BOO!)  We still had wine, just not with that crowd.  So whatever.  Fuck them!  LOL  We had fun!

L to R: Me, April, and Deanna.  Photo taken by Clifton.
Girlie stuff remained as the headlining theme for the night, so sorry Clifton if that made you the odd duck.  I think we're going to be doing a girls night like twice a month or something.  I think we need to form a rockabilly club like the girls in Grease.  That would be pretty cool.

On a side note: Anyone have a Crosley record player?  I'm thinking about getting one.  Are they good?

Two Dresses

I made two dresses this weekend.

A Retro Life

I'm thinking about changing my wardrobe so the majority of what I wear is retro.  Vintage is too hard to come by and I always feel like I have be super careful with it.  The exceptions I would make would be for gym clothes and some of my special outdoor clothes - like my REI hiking pants.

Any suggestions on doing this?

I Was In The Paper

I got mentioned in the Alaska Dispatch.

Read the article here.

Does this mean I'm famous?  Ha ha.  Just kidding.  I'm not.

As Always

As always, by the time I get around to blogging about personal ordeals they tend to fix least part way.

Not Worth It

I told my guy that we have some drama to deal with.  I feel like he's lied to me, that I'm not worth his time, and that I'm feeling unimportant.  If you've been reading this blog for over the last year or two you will know that my guy is married and I'm the other woman.  He's told me repeatedly that they're pretty much just roommates, who are contractually bound.  No sex, no affection, barely do things together.

The biggest response I got from my guy was that he's super busy all the time.  Now, I know that he just opened up his own business and just went to Europe for a competition.  He takes care of all the household things since his wife can't seem to clean, cook, or do much of anything.  He trains like crazy - taekwondo.

Its not that he's super busy.  I know that he is and I accepted that a while ago.  I get put on the back burner all the time in the last few months.  That's what I mean by not being worth his time.

As for the lying, I've had to hear - for the last two years - how unsupportive and unloving his wife is.  If this is true, then why does he post shit on facebook that says the opposite?  The simple answer is usually the truth (as they say) - so he's probably just lying to me.

We've had a lot of talk about marriage and divorce.  He's afraid to get one for three reasons: she'll try to take his business, his dog, and he doesn't want to be blamed if she tries to kill herself.

I tried breaking up with him, but he keeps leaving comments on facebook....and they're all nice.

Fuck.  I feel like a bitch.

The worst part is that I'm in love with the jerk (though he probably doesn't love me - who knows).  I'm just mad at him.

He's supposed to come up here (yeah, he lives in a different state) in 11 days.  I think he left an afternoon open to do things with me.  *eye roll* Great.  I would have scheduled in a few extra days.  I just don't know if I'm worth it.

Reverend Horton Heat in Healy, AK

Reverend Horton Heat was up in Healy, Alaska for a one-night show at the 49th State Brewing Company.  The Avery Wolves opened for them.   There was some shitty band from California that played too.

I got there and met up with Terri Dukes and Cherry Darling (Knitting in Pearls). We had a blast!  All lost our voices the next day, but whatever.  It was awesome!

On the road to Healy.  Selfie while waiting for road construction.
