Giveaway Winners!

I'm posting this early - instead of tomorrow - for a reason.
The 3 winners of the Fishing Lure Giveaway are:
  1. No one
  2. No one
  3. No one
Thanks for not entering!  Try your luck next time!

This was going to lead up to a small gallery created by our winners of their photos of themselves catching fish and posing - displaying the lures, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.  I have to admit that I am pretty disappointed with all my readers right now.  This is making me second guess my summer challenge.

Roseanne 2016

I am really hoping that Roseanne Barr runs again in 2016.  In 2012, she came in 6th in the election and was only on 2 state ballots!  I don't usually drop a big political post, but I wanted to get this out there before everyone is so BOGGED DOWN by election bullshit.

When elections start to come around, I tend to spend a weekend looking at all the candidates.  I always want to know their platforms.  That's how I come up with my choices.  I could care less about political parties.  Its all about platforms and, secondly, their background (can they do what they say?).  Picking a candidate to support is like picking the lesser of the evils.  Remember: if it is too good to be true, than it probably is.

I like Roseanne.  I grew up watching her TV show.  I like how she gets right in your face on issues.  I like that she has her own macadamia nut farm and isn't isolated from the real world.  I don't like all of her platform issues, but I like most of them.  I also think she would shake things up!

Here are Roseanne's platform issues (Collected from News Sources):

  • OBLITERATION OF THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM: I will achieve this by becoming the first Green Party President of these United States as a result of our victory in the 2012 general election. I also believe it's essential to do away with the Electoral College.
Roseanne 2015
  • CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE: I will introduce a Constitutional Amendment that will end corporate personhood and remove the unfair advantage that corporations have in influencing the decisions made in Washington. If it doesn't think, breathe and bleed, it's not human. It's not even a dog. I will then take this one crucial step further and embrace current efforts to remove all money from our electoral process.
  • ECONOMIC JUSTICE: As President of the United States, I will reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 as well as bringing back the financial transaction tax that, for pennies on the dollar, will be a windfall for social programs in danger of being cut. I will remove the immoral cap on FICA tax for the rich. I will rewrite labor laws so that U.S. companies are bound by them even when they try to skirt them by shipping jobs overseas. This will effectively roadblock mega-corporations from outsourcing production to countries with immoral, inadequate and nonexistent labor laws. Our jobs will stay here in the United States of America where they belong. I will close the loopholes that allow some of our nation's most profitable corporations to get away with not paying any taxes at all.
  • HEALTH CARE NOT WARFARE: Not only will I bring home all U.S. troops from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, Mexico and the Horn of Africa, but I will also permanently shut down the 1,000-plus foreign U.S. military bases around the world. This would save more than enough money to implement a singlepayer health care system in the United States. Guantanamo Bay will remain open and that is where I will send anyone who opposes this plan. Just kidding on that last part.
  • LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA: I'm sick and tired of this medical marijuana sham. All marijuana is medicinal and we have to stop pretending that there is some sort of moral superiority to calling some of it medical.
I will legalize all marijuana and all drugs in general. Drug education will be offered and treatment plans will be put in place for abusers. Sweeping the problem under the rug by turning non-violent abusers into criminals only exacerbates the problem by pretending that real solutions don't exist. Behold the Greening of America!
  • Reconfigure American Diets
  • Fight for Gay Rights
  • Forgive all student loans, homeowner debt, and credit card debt by "kicking out" the Federal Reserve
  • Prison TimeShe believes prison time should be reserved for violent criminals—with the exception of the Wall Street bankers who have “defrauded the working class and middle class,” she says. “Those people should be in jail.”
Unfortunately, I tend to go for the people who don't make it to the popular top 2.  I hope I'm not jinxing this for Roseanne.  Readers - it doesn't matter to me if you agree or not.  I'm doing this in order to spread the knowledge of who is running.  Urge your electorial congress to vote how you want them to vote!  Popular vote (voting by the people) doesn't elect a president - the electorial congress elects the president.

Coming Soon

I have a few things coming up that I wanted to share with you.

My Fishing Lure Giveaway is almost over.  It ends on the 30th, which happens to be Thursday.  If you want to sign up for it, please do so immediately!  At this point there have been ZERO entries. :(  That makes me a little sad, but hey - you can always purchase fishing lures from me at my etsy store.

On Friday I will be posting something for my upcoming summer challenge.  I'm hoping that a few people will join in.  It will start May 31st and is a photo-based challenge.

I will soon have a summer party - first of the season - but I'm not sure when.  I'll post all about it when it happens.

Anyway, I hope that gets you guys excited about what's coming up!

New GOAL! Crossfit 1

I was just notified that Crossfit Alaska (in Anchorage) will be having a Crossfit Level 1 course going on in June.  I'm going to get my Level 1 and be certified to instruct!  I will need to train, train, train!

I have to say that I love crossfit.  Since your activities change day-to-day, it keeps your mind alert.  I can honestly say, and I told this to my boyfriend, that if I wasn't going to crossfit, then I probably would have stopped going to taekwondo since its constantly the same thing all the time.  Or, I would do it a month on, a few weeks off.    Crossfit not only makes me want to work out hard as hell, but it keeps me going to taekwondo.  Brilliant!

Wednesday, I ran my mile in 12:17.  Not my best time, but it was the first time I've run a mile since last summer.  Its also better than any time I ever had in high school.

Fishing Lure Giveaway!!! Only 7 Days Left!

Okay everyone, there's only 7 days left to enter!

I wanted to post again about my Fishing Lure Giveaway!  I have 3 hand-painted lures to give away!

What I really want to do is to send out 3 of these cute fishing lures and get some pictures back (like 3 or so from each person) - within two or three weeks of them arriving by mail - of people catching fish with the lures.  I'll be selling them this spring and I would love to have some pictures to show people.

** I definitely encourage pin-up poses with the lures too!  Ladies, this would be a great photo op to be had with your man!  Men, you can send me your manly pin-up pics too!

If you are interested, here's what you must do:

  1. Send me your name, email, and address. I just need to know that you are able to go fishing.
  2. Send me a pic of you with fishing gear or your fishing license or something like that. Tell me why I should send you one of the three lures, what you plan on catching, where you plan on going, etc.  This can be as simple as: "I love to go fishing.  I would go to Blue River and fish for trout."

See?  Super easy.

Send to: OR Leave a comment with everything included!

 The giveaway ends April 30th!

These styles aren't guaranteed to be what you get, but they are an example.

Mesa Trip

My 5-day trip to Mesa was awesome!  We went to the Bryce Thompson Arboritum, a car show, the Phoenix Zoo, a taekwondo tournament and belt test (separate events), and we even dressed up one night and went out to a killer Italian restaurant called Buca di Beppo.

I really didn't get many pictures - most of them are from the arboritum.  One is from the zoo.  One is of me - all burnt and crispy - ready to go out to dinner.  A few from the tournament.  A little tip - after eating a full Italian meal, going out for Hawaiian shaved ice (we hit up Bahama Bucks) is a nice light dessert.

The best part about the trip was being able to see my guy.  Long distance relationships are hard.  The most awkward part: meeting his former inlaws (his ex was not there).  They were super cool though and I was told that they really liked me.

The arboritum.  Beautiful!

Keir just lost some weight, so he was a little pissed about looking heavy.  It's just the way he's sitting.  Big baby.

We had Thor at the Arboritum

This cactus struck me as being very MCM

Bottom half

So very tall
Keir didn't realize I took this when we left the car show.  He has a 57 Chevy

Thor the 120lb lap dog and super farter

Burnt, yes, but still ready to go out!

I might just start including some paranormal stuff on this blog.  I don't mention it too often on here, but I've been a paranormal researcher and investigator for about 16 years now (since 1999).  I have even written a book on ghost investigations.  You can check it out on amazon "The Professional Ghost Investigator".  It's just one of many parts of what I do.

I'm currently working on a plan to venture out to the middle of nowhere (literally!) to do an investigation of an alleged site.  I'll have to take a helicopter charter because there's nowhere for other planes to land and there aren't any roads.  What's out there?  You'll just have to wait and see.  The gov't might not like me being out there, so when it gets closer I might let you know - in case I go missing or something.  If it works out and everything goes like I want it to (*eye roll* never quite happens) then I could end up on Coast to Coast AM.

This summer I really want to have a retro UFO party.  Think BBQ, costumes, and party games (or something like that).  I think it could be pretty fun.  Costumes will have to be space, alien, retro sci-fi themed.  The food will mostly be space/sci fi themed (kind of tricky).  Not sure about party games.  I know that party games have gone out of vogue, but I'm sure I can figure something out.  As always, if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Zoned Out

I'm not the biggest fan of this time of year.  Something about it makes me zone out at the drop of a hat.  I generally take Irwin Naturals Brain Awake in the morning and this helps, but it doesn't always fix the issue.  Any suggestions out there?

I always thought that I was just continuously bored or something.  This is probably why I take on a lot of projects.  I can also just sit there like in the gif above - for hours.  Its a little creepy and I try to make myself do something - even if its watch tv.

Thrift Store Finds!

Part of my Sunday was spent at Value Village.  I thought I'd share some stuff that I got.
Dove grey sweater

Actually pumpkin orange, but photographed red

A wild t-shirt

A nifty button up that I can wear with my Rosie the Riveter overalls

I'll have to fix the arms on this carhartt shirt (too narrow), but the rest fits just fine!
