Acai Bowl (Paleo + Breakfast)

I first discovered acai bowls a few years ago in Kona, Hawaii at the Basik Cafe (in front of the Royal Kona Hotel).  I love that little restaurant.  Everyone definitely needs to know about acai bowls (pronounced ah-say-ee).
Acai/yogurt/protein powder base with Papaya, Pineapple, Coconut, and Flax Meal

Acai Mixture
1 cup Acai Berries, frozen
1 cup Yogurt, plain or 1/3 cup Milk (cow, almond, coconut, etc)
*1 scoop Protein Powder (optional)
*1 TBSP Chia Seeds (optional)
*1 TBSP Flax Seeds (optional)
*1 scoop Peanut Butter (optional)
*Any other additives (optional)

1. Blend everything together until smooth.  This will be your bottom layer to your bowl.

Toppings
Add 3 or 4 toppings to your bowl.

  • Banana slices
  • Papaya
  • Pineapple
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Coconut
  • Other Fruit
  • Other Berries
  • Dried Berries (goji, mulberries, etc)
  • Pistachios
  • Pecans
  • Other Nuts
  • Seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, etc)
  • Bee Pollen
  • Edible Flowers
  • Honey
  • Spirulina
  • Granola (for non-paleo)
  • Cacao Nibs
  • Herbs that pair with fruit (mint leaves, clover, etc)
This is so simple to make and is open to so many options.
