Dog Treats

Bells vs squashed circles
This morning, after a quick trip to the grocery store, I decided to make the dogs some treats.  I looked around on pinterest until I found one that I had all of the ingredients for (pretty much).

Pumpkin-PB Dog Treats
1-1/2 cups Coconut Flour
1/2 cup Peanut Butter (or nut butter if your dogs are cool with it)
1/2 cup Coconut Oil
4 Eggs
1-1/8 cup Pumpkin Puree

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a big bowl, mix together all of the ingredients until you get a somewhat dry looking dough.  You should be able to ball it up with your hands when it's mixed correctly.
  3. I tried using my Christmas Bell cookie cutter, but the dough really didn't want to work that way.  I just ended up making balls and squashing them like a regular cookie.  If you really want to make shapes, you can try refrigerating the dough for 30 minutes.  If you don't want to hurry, then roll into balls and squash!
  4. Place on a baking sheet and pop into the oven for 15 minutes.  When they come out, use a spatula to get them off of the baking sheet so they can cool.
Neit gladly taking yet another cookie
I will warn you that Neit, the more vocal of the dogs around here, barked and barked until he got more cookies.

If you want to add some extra stuff to the dough to help your dog out, here are some suggestions:
  • 1/4 cup Flaxseed
  • 1 TBSP Tumeric (ground)
  • 2 TBSP Parsley
  • 1 tsp Clove
