MUFON Alaska State Director

Just got my State Director certificate
I don't usually mention this here, on my personal blog, but I am the MUFON State Director for Alaska.  It's a recent promotion with a lot of responsibility.  So far, I've formed a website for our branch of MUFON (MufonAlaska.Com), I started sending out monthly newsletters via email, our facebook page is becoming more and more popular, but I can't seem to get new recruits.

MUFON is the Mutual UFO Network and has been around since 1969.  MUFON is an international non-profit, non-government organization that is run by thousands of volunteers.  What do we do?  We are UFOlogists.  Yes.  Seriously.  We are dedicated UFO investigators.

I live in Alaska.  It's a really big state, the largest in fact.  We have a lot of UFO sightings and I could really use some more Field Investigators.  Any ideas on recruitment?  I know I have readers out there.  Please leave me some suggestions.  HELP!

How does one become a Field Investigator?

  • Be a MUFON Member ($35/year) - You get the MUFON e-journal and you can attend meetings.  If you live in Alaska, you get my monthly newsletter and an invite to our private members-only facebook group.
  • Sign up to become a Field Investigator ($149/one time payment) - Field Investigators get assigned cases to investigate, plus membership stuff.
  • Pass the Field Investigator Test (I thought it was super easy) and send me an email
It's not expensive.  You don't get paid, I don't get paid, no one gets paid.  It's a volunteer thing.

Part of my job as State Director is recruiting people for MUFON.  I am not great at this so far.  I talk to people and they just think it's silly or something.

I am desperately looking for ideas on getting more MUFON members and field investigators.  Send me your suggestions!!!
